MALE NUDE CERAMIC
POTTERY RAKU
created by gay artist Malcolm Lidbury
Since coming out as a gay man in 1989 Lidbury had drawn & painted male nudes primarily for his own amusement. Whilst in 6th form Lidbury had studied 'A' level Art with a cermics component.
In 2008 Lidbury created a number of cermic Raku fired Male Nude sculptures.
However, there were a number of casulties in the firing process. Rather than discard them Lidbury used them in a visual art project to depict male persons adversly impacted & affected by Homophobia & HIV/AIDS
